Both the Tomkinson women and Tomkinson BMW have had a long, wonderful relationship with the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer Classic, held each year in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
This year marked the 21st annual edition of the Classic, and we’re pleased to announce that we set another fundraising record this year, raising $1,083,629! Both Jeannie and I were happy to be among the 600-plus participants at the event. We played in the nine-hole tournament at Pine Valley Country Club, and we’re thrilled to have finished in second place. But mostly, we enjoyed the camaraderie of so many women coming together for such an important cause.
We were also thrilled to once again have our BMW dealership in Fort Wayne supply the cars for the hole-in-one holes at the tournament. Pictured above is sales advisor Randy Smith alongside a participating team.
Tomkinson BMW has been a proud supporter of the Vera Bradley Foundation for the past six years, and we look forward to being a part of the Classic for many years to come!
An output of 600 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. The ability to go from 0 to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds. A dedicated control module that improves upon the Active M Differential. These are just some of the breathtaking performance benchmarks BMW has achieved with its limited 30th Anniversary Edition of the BMW M5 for 2015, as the automaker attempts to offer fans the ultimate driving experience.
In celebration of 30 years of M5 excellence, BMW has announced the limited availablility of 30 copies of the anniversary edition of the M5, titled the “30 Jahre M5.” Officially described as the “the most powerful BMW production model ever,” the 30th Anniversary Edition M5 has a Frozen Dark Silver Metallic exterior, “30 Jahre M5” badges along the body and throughout the interior, and bAlcantara Black leather seats that grace the cockpit. In short, this car is as beautiful inside and out as it is powerful and exclusive underneath the hood.
We’d love to house one of these beautiful machines at our Fort Wayne BMW dealership, but BMW is producing just 29 copies of the 30th Anniversary Edition M5 for U.S. drivers. On May 21 at 1 p.m., drivers will have the chance to call the BMW Customer Relations hotline and reserve a 30 Jahre M5 model. BMW plans to release a portion of the correct number to call each day beginning on May 17, and drivers who agree to purchase the M5 will also receive an invitation to an exclusive BMW M Driving School at The Thermal Club in Palm Springs, Calif.

Since BMW revealed plans for its all-electric i3 model in late 2012, eco-friendly drivers have eagerly awaited its delivery to the United States. They finally got their wish earlier this month, when BMW delivered the first i3 to a Tufts University professor, ringing in the beginning of the era of “electromobility.”
The all-new BMW i3 is the first member of BMW’s i family constructed primarily of carbon fiber to hit the U.S. market. Powered by a 22-kWh lithium-ion battery and a hybrid-synchronous electric motor, the i3 produces an astonishing 170 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. Despite the car’s impressive output, the i3 allows for 80 to 100 miles of emissions-free driving and is “ideally suited for dense urban areas,” according to BMW.
BMW delivered the first i3 in the United States to Tufts University professor of practice Charles Rabie, an electric vehicle advocate and BMW ActiveE driver since 2012.
“Today marks a big day at BMW of North America – What started out as a dream for an innovative sustainable vehicle under the BMW i brand can now be found on streets across the U.S.,” said Ludwig Willisch, President and CEO of BMW of North America.
We’re looking forward to housing the BMW i3 on our lot, and we encourage you to stop by our BMW dealership in Fort Wayne once the i3 is here. It’s one thing to read about this technology and appreciate BMW’s forward-thinking approach, but it’s another thing entirely to experience this powerful, efficient vehicle first-hand!
How do you improve upon the most luxurious, beautifully engineered and technologically modern vehicles on the road today? That’s what BMW aimed to answer at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show when it revealed its stunning BMW Future Vision Luxury concept model.
With a long list of innovative features inside the cabin, under the hood and along the exterior, the Vision Future Luxury concept represents yet another effort by BMW to push the envelope when it comes to modern vehicle design. Billed as a “forward-looking fusion of exclusivity and innovation,” the Vision Future Luxury concept aims to connect driver and machine like never before.
While there are many intriguing features of the Vision Future Luxury, one in particular caught our attention. Inside the Vision Future Luxury concept, BMW showed off a new technology called “BMW Vision Heads-Up Display” that projects a wealth of information directly in the driver’s line of sight onto the road. The system can direct a driver’s attention to important information, such as road hazards or traffic lights, and can provide real-time information on traffic light phasing.
“Innovative technology and modern luxury have always been an important part of BMW’s brand DNA,” said Adrian van Hooydonk, senior vice president of BMW Group Design. “We use visionary concept vehicles like the BMW Vision Future Luxury to show where we may be going with these themes in the future, and to give us new inspiration and motivation.”
We can’t wait to see how the design principles incorporated in the Vision Future Luxury concept manifest themselves in future BMW production models, and we bet BMW drivers will be excited about what’s to come, too.
