Several Tomkinson BMW staff members spent yesterday afternoon at the Fort Wayne Boys and Girls Club on Fairfield. Just a terrific organization run by Executive Director Joe Jordan – if you are not familiar with it, you owe it to yourself to stop by for a tour. Kate Tomkinson serves on the board and organized a drive to purchase over 200 Christmas gifts for Boys and Girls Club members. We stopped by to deliver the gifts, sing a few carols, and enjoy some punch and cookies. This was a great way to get into the Christmas spirit!

Christmas Comes Early for the Children at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Fort Wayne
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Fort Wayne is hosting a Christmas Party on Thursday, December 16th at the Club at 2690 Fairfield Ave, Fort Wayne. 200+ kids will be the lucky recipients of Christmas presents thanks to gracious donations by members of the community.
Kate Tomkinson, a board member, is head of this year’s program and has gone to great lengths to make sure no child is deprived of a Christmas celebration. Tomkinson was able to buy presents for 230 kids through donations by Tomkinson Automotive, Carson BoxBerger LLP, Marty Sturges and a few anonymous donors.
The Christmas party will include a program on the true meaning of Christmas beyond the shiny presents and Christmas Trees. We want to be sure to emphasize the spirit of Christmas and remind the kids that this season is truly about sharing and giving to others. The party will also include plenty of festivities with punch and cookies and Christmas caroling. On their way out each child will be given a Christmas present to take home and unwrap.
“No one likes to think about Christmas passing and there being kids who didn’t receive any presents,” says Tomkinson. “The Christmas party is an exciting time for both the kids and the adults, who enjoy seeing the joy that it brings to the children. After all, that is what Christmas is all about.”
